Discovery of the Country & Culture
Day 1
Arrival at Marrakech airport. Transfer to a lovely hotel, which is situated at the heart of the old town –the "medina." Meal on a terrace from which one of the most famous squares of Africa can be admired: Jemaa el Fna.
Day 2
Journey to Ouarzazate. Allowing us to drive over the highest mountain range of North Africa, the High Atlas. The "Tizi n Tichka" pass culminates around 6'600 feet above sea level. Of course, we will take many breaks on the road to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes.
Day 3
Small walk up a hill just next to the town to get an idea of our bearings. Ouarzazate is at the crossroads between two Berber groups (the ishelhayn and the imazighn) and many call her "the gateway to the desert," as you have to drive through if you want to reach the Sahara. We will then eat a traditional couscous at a Berber family's place.
Day 4
Departure for the mountains in the East, where we will visit an association whose goal is to help the Nomads in the Saghro region. Our partnering association, Crocus-Tifaout, supports their work (read more). Meal outside with the Nomads and night in a wonderful little hotel in the town of Tinghir.
Day 5
Visit of the very impressive Todra gorges. Some have compared them to the Grand Canyon... except it's much smaller! Finally, drive back to Ouarzazate with a good break to admire the wonderful palmeraie.
Day 6
Departure for Marrakech early morning so that there would be enough time to visit the legendary souks. We'll also visit the Medrasa Ben Youssef and/or the Photography Museum... as you wish.
Day 7
Some more souvenirs shopping according to the schedule of the flight. Finally, transfer to the airport.
